Brands that matter in laundromat equipment
Laundromat equipment brands differ in parts availability, service networks and rebuild cost, so owners should choose on uptime, not on a spec sheet.
What to take away
- Alliance Laundry Systems builds Speed Queen, Huebsch, UniMac, IPSO and Primus, so one distributor network often covers three of the names you will be quoted.
- Dexter, Continental Girbau, Wascomat, Maytag Commercial, Electrolux Professional, LG Commercial and B&C Technologies reach the US coin laundry channel through separate distribution.
- Three numbers settle a comparisonwhat the distributor stocks locally, the response window in writing, and a rebuild quote for year seven.
- A one-day parts wait and a two-week parts wait are both normal here. Which one you get depends on the distributor, not the badge.
This article covers business and equipment decisions, not individualized utility, plumbing, electrical, gas, wastewater, repair, licensing or legal advice. Use a licensed technician and your local permitting authority.
Which brands sell into the coin laundry channel
Ownership answers half the comparison before you ever look at features.
Alliance Laundry Systems builds Speed Queen, Huebsch, UniMac, IPSO and Primus. One Alliance distributor in your metro usually carries all five, so you get a single parts account and a single service queue. Speed Queen is the badge most owners recognize first.
Dexter Laundry is independent and builds in Fairfield, Iowa. Continental Girbau belongs to the Girbau Group in Spain, and Wascomat is sold through Laundrylux. Maytag Commercial is a Whirlpool line.
Electrolux Professional runs its own US parts operation. LG Commercial and B&C Technologies fill the rest of the shelf.
Ownership says where a spare originates. It does not say who stocks it eight miles from your store. That is the distributor question, and it is where the equipment a laundromat cannot open without in 2027 begins for most first-time buyers.

Rebuild at year 7

- Continental Girbau (Girbau Group)

- Wascomat (Laundrylux)
- Parts supply tends to favor rebuilding
- Maytag Commercial (Whirlpool)
- Get a written rebuild quote before you buy
- Electrolux Professional
- Ask the same question as the others
These are typical ranges, not quotes. A rebuild quote taken at purchase is the only one that holds. Ask how a rebuild changes your cost per wash before you set a price, using the method in working out laundromat prices from the bottom up.
Example: pricing the downtime gap
Two distributors quote the same 40 lb front-load washer. The local one is $400 more per machine and two hours closer to your store. Both machines are the same capacity and the same age.
Use typical figures for a busy US store. Gross revenue runs about $60 per washer per day, and a 30-machine floor sees roughly three repairs a year. A stocked board arrives in a day. A factory order can take seven to fourteen days.
Pricing the downtime gap
| Item | Distributor A, two hours away | Distributor B, local |
|---|---|---|
| Premium per machine | base price | $400 more |
| Days down per repair | 4 | 1 |
| Lost revenue, 3 extra days at $60 a day | $180 | $0 |
| Three machines, three repairs each | $1,620 | $0 |
The cheaper quote saves $1,200 on three machines. Nine breakdowns at $180 each cost $1,620. Price the downtime before you sign.
Pricing the service gap
- 1 dayDistributor B downtime per repair
- 4 daysDistributor A downtime per repair
- $400Distributor A cheaper per machine
- 2 hoursDistributor A further away
Your own revenue per machine per day decides this, and the metrics worth a monthly look give you that number from your card system instead of from a guess.
Verifying parts stock and response window in writing
Get the answer inside the service agreement, not in a sales email.
- Request a stock list for the parts you will need firstdoor lock, control board, drain pump, belt, bearing kit, seal kit, inlet valve, coin drop and card reader.
- Ask for the response window in the agreement itselfhours to arrival on site, hours to repair, and what counts as a covered failure.
- Ask how many vans run within an hour of your address, and where the nearest parts warehouse sits.
- Ask for two laundromats within twenty miles that the distributor services, then call both.
- Ask what happens on a Saturday in December.
The procedures that keep a laundromat consistent every day start with a machine log, which doubles as the evidence you need when a response window is missed.
Duties that arrive with the machine
OSHA 1910.147 requires energy-control procedures before anyone services or maintains a machine. That covers your own attendant opening a panel, not only a contractor.
Diagnosing an electrical error code brings in the NFPA 70 National Electrical Code on the installation side, and a qualified technician on the live side. Swapping a control board is not a customer-service task.
Neither duty is brand-specific. Both become yours the day you service in-house instead of extending the distributor contract.
